Maggie: "I'm thinking we should try to reuse those containers that the lettuce mix came in yesterday. Please wash and dry them and bring them with you next week. Hopefully they can be reused instead of trashed."
"On the subject of kohlrabi, I peeled the bulb and chopped it, raw, into a phenomenal green salad. Then,...
We enjoyed eating our greens last night with an improvised recipe, based on Felipe's suggestion for making collard greens. I chopped both the collard greens and the kohlrabi greens together, along with the stems, and added them to a wok after sauteing onions and garlic in olive oil, salt and pepper. I let it cook, covered, on low, while the rest of the dinner was being prepared (~20 min) and they were yummy! - Gail "
"My Oma's recipe:
peel and slice bulb, not too thin. put it in a pot. just cover with water and boil til soft, a good half hour. remove kohlrabi to a bowl, save the water. add 1tbsn butter per bulb some salt n pepper, add some boil water and flour to thicken as needed.
I make the sauce enough so that it covers all the greens, almost like a soup. I made it last night and had'nt had it since i was a kid in germany. a neat way to bring back childhood."
